The villege leaders are killed just before the national poll.
According to the Indian local media, three men were killed on April 21st, in the province of Jammu-Kashmir near Himalaya in Northern India. The purpose of attack is known as the disturbance of the national poll. The police said that two militants who are the members of the separatist group, the Hizbul Mujahideen, committed crime in the Southern part of the city, Srinagar.
They invaded into one village head’s house and shot him, and after an hour, they invaded into another village leader’s house and shot him and his son. The police also said that they are pursuing the criminals.
The local poll of Jammu-Kashmir province is to be held on 24th of this month. The police expected that the separatists are trying to terrify the voters. This wasn’t the first attack, a similar attack had occurred last week, and one of the village head was killed.
The separatists are opposed to Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is expected to win over the secularist Indian National Congress (INC) during this poll, and they demanded the voters not to participate into the poll.
This group, the Hizbul Mujahideen, advocates that this region, which residents are mostly Muslims, should be annexed to the Muslim country Pakistan or granted independence from India. Since 1947, Jammu-Kashmir region’s ownership has been disputed India and Pakistan, they passed through the war twice. Kashmir region has been divided into two, India-administered Kashmir (or Jammu-Kashmir) and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the poll will be continued to 12th of next month, the result will be announced four days later.
